WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF JOINT AND MUSCLE INJURY?
Dr. Lorenzo Lotti, Running Coach
Those who run and those who play sports in general know this: injury is part of the game.
Even if we train wisely, respect the workload and are followed by a coach, sometimes our body gives out.
What can be the causes of an injury?
- Accumulation of tiredness
- Postural problem due to bad running technique
- Lack of sleep at night
- Advancing age wears out cartilage
- Why did we keep running with worn out shoes or
- Because we placed our foot badly during a trail.
In short, there are many causes and the first thing we should do when we get injured is to try to understand where our physical problem originated from.
Sometimes we can figure it out on our own, other times it will be necessary to consult a doctor, physiotherapist or specialist.
What to do in case of joint and muscle injury?
- Initial rest
- Physiotherapy
- Muscle strengthening
- Technique exercises
- Gradual recovery
But there is something more that we can do right away, when the injury has just occurred (or even before it occurs, in the preventive phase!): use products that improve the physiological response of our body and accelerate the natural cellular repair processes. Among these products, my favorite is the Pasta Idrogel by Bec Natura, which I also use in the preventative phase after the hardest workouts.
There Pasta Idrogel by Bec Natura is a refreshing and skin-purifying paste with soothing properties. It is ideal for providing relief and freshness after sporting activity and for giving tone and elasticity to the skin and muscles.
There Pasta Idrogel by Bec Natura also contains, among other ingredients, camphor and menthol.
Camphor was already used by gladiators at the time of the Roman Empire for its hyperemic properties which make it an excellent ally for treating muscle and joint pain and rheumatic pain. Camphor is credited with the ability to stimulate nerve endings, exerting a pain-relieving effect.
Menthol, on the other hand, has a refreshing, analgesic and antiseptic action and is a real panacea when the muscles are tired. When applied to the skin and absorbed by the muscles, menthol causes an initial vasoconstriction followed by vasodilation, and therefore has a rubefacient and anesthetic action, a bit like applying ice.
If we are faced with mild muscle-joint fatigue, Bec Natura gel could help us relieve the pain immediately. If, however, we are faced with a slightly more serious injury, Bec Natura's Hydrogel Paste will help us reduce muscle or joint discomfort.
As already written, I often use Bec Natura gel post-workout to speed up recovery times.
